Planning Permission II

The war on terror has come to the home front and for our own protection the government has decided to strip away our civil liberties, and massively increase surveilance. Of course it is all for the good of democracy and freedom.

As our own little bit of support for the surveilance and corporate loving government that look out for us. We decided that we would give them some hints for excellent ideas, to help increase the amount of time people are watched, and barraged by the ever increasing spread of multinational takeover.

Taking off where a previous project had left off we set about setting up some spoof applictions for planning permission.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 35’ ANTI TERRORIST CCTV AND CONGESTION CHARGE WATCHTOWER, EQUIPPED WITH FACIAL RECOGNITION COMPUTERISED 360 DEGREE CCTV CAMERAS. THIS WILL ENABLE THE CORPORATION OF LONDON TO MONITOR PEDESTRIANS AND VEHICLES MOVEMENTS AND CHECK FOR IRREGULARITIES IN PEOPLE’S ROUTINE.
AN ANTI TERRORIST METAL DETECTION, FINGERPRINT AND ID SCANNING UNIT TO BE CONSTRUCTED ACROSS THE PEDESTRIAN AREA. THIS STRUCTURE WILL CONSIST OF A MANNED OFFICE AND TWO DETECTION ARCHES FOR PEDESTRIANS TO PASS THROUGH.
THE CONVERSION OF THE TRUMAN BREWERY COMPLEX INTO A MULTI-LEVELED FLAGSHIP STORE FOR A RENOUND COFFEE COMPANY. THIS WILL INCLUDE A 30’ WIDE GREEN ILLUMINATED SIGN TO BE ERECTED ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH FACES OF THE BRIDGING ROOM CONNECTING THE COMPLEX ACROSS BRICK LANE. THE WESTERN SIDE OF THE COMPLEX WILL BE CONVERTED INTO A COFFEE RESTAURANT AND LEISURE AREA. THE EASTERN SIDE WILL BE CONVERTED INTO LUXURY APPARTMENTS AND OFFICE BLOCKS.
A 25 METER MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL BOOSTING MAST TO BE ATTACHED TO THE EASTERN FACE OF CHRIST CHURCH TOWER.

Moblie phone company masts on churches, Starbucks in Brick Lane, Metal detectors on the street etc.

The plan was to put up applications that were just past what companies and the government feel comfortable proposing (although probably would like to) and just past what people are willing to accept. The hope being that there would be a growing resentment for such ideas within the communities, so that when similar ideas are eventually proposed there is already an established dislike for them.
